General Briefing: Me and the Green Party

Ok, here’s the deal. Hypothetically, I would support a third party. I’m much more progressive than the national democratic party. I support women’s reproductive rights without question., I support LGBT rights and when I say LGBT rights, I mean employment rights, equality rights, and yes marriage…

I agree with a lot of what the Green Party stands for but not everything. I think anyone would be hard pressed to find a party that they agree with 100%. I’ll be honest, I’ve yet to really do more research about Dr. Stein, other than skim her bio. Need to put that on the to do list. I’m still up in the air about who to vote for. I certainly don’t want Romney anywhere near the White House and some of what Obama has done doesn’t sit well with me. But I’m not sure I really want to risk voting for Dr. Stein either. I know I said that I would probably vote for her in the past, but certainly more information about her could definitely change my mind.

There are a small number of GP members holding office at the state and city levels but I don’t think there are many, if any, in Congress, though they have ran for office. I think that’s mostly because there aren’t too many voters who realize that there are more than just 2 parties. I think Green Party members don’t get the press the Tea Party/Libertarians do because the majority of their members aren’t batshit crazy people who are willing to deny people their basic human rights.

Don’t get me wrong.  I fully support a multiple party system, offering more options on both the left and the right ( I need to know just how crazy these assholes are and I fear the Tea Party is just the tip of the iceburg).  But as it is, I just can’t do it.  I listened to an interview with Dr. Stein and then I looked up some info on her.  I like some of the things she has to say, but again, not enough to risk it.

I totally get that, especially since this will be an extremely important election. Not that all elections aren’t important but it seems imperative to keep Republican paws off of the White House, given the damage they’ve already done with Congress, you know?

About

I like Spring, Nine Inch Nails, and World of Warcraft. I do not like New Jersey or douchebags. My blog doesn't really have a 'theme'. It's just a smish-mash of randomness I find on the internets. Heads up for those who wish to follow me: I am an atheist, pro-choice, republican hating, LGTBQ loving kind of lady and will most likely be posting related things.
