“Moralistic” veganism comes from a good place of not wanting to harm animals, but it seems to push aside the fact that almost every single product in our lives, food or otherwise, comes with its own little price tag of suffering. Whether it’s taking incredible advantage of a Mexican-American farm worker or a Chinese child, consumerism is amoral, and no one has a right to claim a moral high ground by saying that they’re not contributing to suffering, because that’s pretty much impossible.
